© 2014,This book is the most comprehensive book you will find on AutoCAD 2014 - 2D Drafting. Covering all of the 2D concepts, it uses both metric and imperial units to illustrate the myriad drawing and editing tools for this popular application. Use the DVD to set up drawing exercises and projects and see all of the book's figures in color. AutoCAD 2014 Beginning and Intermediate includes over 100 exercises or "mini-workshops," that complete small projects from concept through actual plotting. Solving all of the workshops will simulate the creation of three projects (architectural and mechanical) from beginning to end, without overlooking any of the basic commands and functions in AutoCAD 2014. BRIEF TABLE OF CONTENTS: 1: AutoCAD 2014 Basics. 2: Precise Drafting in AutoCAD 2014. 3: Modifying Commands Part 1. 4: Modifying Commands Part 2. 5: Layers and Inquiry Commands6: Blocks and Hatches. 7: Writing Text. 8: Dimensions. 9: Plotting. 10: Projects. 11: More on 2D Objects. 12: Advanced Practices - Part 1. 13: Advanced Practices - Part 2. 14: Using Block Tools and Block Editing. 15: Creating Text & Table Styles and Formulas in Tables. 16: Dimension & Multileader Styles. 17: Plot Style, Annotative, and DWF Files. 18: How to Create a Template File and Interface Customization. 19: Parametric Constraints. 20: Dynamic Blocks. 21: Block Attributes. 22: External Referencing (Xref). 23: Sheet Sets. 24: CAD Standards and Advanced Layers. 25: Drawing Review. FEATURES Designed for novice users of AutoCAD 2014. Most useful for "teach yourself" or instructor-led AutoCAD training in Level 1 or 2. No previous CAD experience is required Accompanied by a DVD featuring drawings, practice and finished plots, 4-color figures, etc. Includes over 100 "mini-workshops" and hundreds of figures that complete small projects Uses both English and metric units in examples, exercises, projects, and descriptions Covers three full projects (metric and imperial) for architectural and mechanical designs Helps you to prepare for the AutoCAD Certified Professional exam Instructor's resources available for use as a textbook

© 2013,The Engineering Design Challenge addresses teaching engineering design and presents design projects for first-year students and interdisciplinary design ventures. A short philosophy and background of engineering design is discussed. The organization of the University of Wyoming first-year Introduction to Engineering program is presented with an emphasis on the first-year design challenges. These challenges are presented in a format readily incorporated in other first-year programs. The interdisciplinary design courses address the institutional constraints and present organizational approaches that resolve these issues. Student results are summarized and briefly assessed. A series of short intellectual problems are included to initiate discussion and understanding of design issues. Sample syllabi, research paper requirements, and oral presentation evaluation sheets are included.

© 2014,Mechanical Design Engineering Handbook is a straight-talking and forward-thinking reference covering the design, specification, selection, use and integration of machine elements fundamental to a wide range of engineering applications. Develop or refresh your mechanical design skills in the areas of bearings, shafts, gears, seals, belts and chains, clutches and brakes, springs, fasteners, pneumatics and hydraulics, amongst other core mechanical elements, and dip in for principles, data and calculations as needed to inform and evaluate your on-the-job decisions. Covering the full spectrum of common mechanical and machine components that act as building blocks in the design of mechanical devices, Mechanical Design Engineering Handbook also includes worked design scenarios and essential background on design methodology to help you get started with a problem and repeat selection processes with successful results time and time again. This practical handbook will make an ideal shelf reference for those working in mechanical design across a variety of industries and a valuable learning resource for advanced students undertaking engineering design modules and projects as part of broader mechanical, aerospace, automotive and manufacturing programs. Clear, concise text explains key component technology, with step-by-step procedures, fully worked design scenarios, component images and cross-sectional line drawings all incorporated for ease of understanding. Provides essential data, equations and interactive ancillaries, including calculation spreadsheets, to inform decision making, design evaluation and incorporation of components into overall designs. Design procedures and methods covered include references to national and international standards where appropriate.

© 2014,From simple cases such as hook and latch attachments found in Velcro to articulated-wing flying vehicles, biology often has been used to inspire many creative design ideas. The scientific challenge now is to transform the paradigm into a repeatable and scalable methodology. Biologically Inspired Design explores computational techniques and tools thata can help integrate the method into design practice.aWith an inspiring foreword from Janine Benyus, Biologically Inspired Design contains a dozen chapters written by some of the leading scholars in the transdisciplinary field of bioinspired design, such as Frank Fish, Julian Vincent and Jeannette Yen from biology, and Amaresk Chakrabarti, Satyandra Gupta and Li Shu from engineering. Based in part on discussions at two workshops sponsored by the United States National Science Foundation, this volume introduces and develops several methods and tools for bioinspired design including: aInformation-processing theories, Natural language techniques, Knowledge-based tools, andFunctional approaches and Pedagogical techniques.By exploring these fundamental theories, techniques and tools for supporting biologically inspired design, this volume provides a comprehensive resource for design practitioners wishing to explore the paradigm, an invaluable guide to design educators interested in teaching the method, and a preliminary reading for design researchers wanting to investigate bioinspired design."
